Hazel Devore Park is located on a ten acre island on the Grand River donated to the Village of Lyons by Dr. Gietz with the stipulation that it be a park and that it be named for his daughter. The Village has made many improvements since its acquisition in 1976. The island is located on the Grand River a few hundred yards downstream from the Lyons Dam. The park has been recently renovated with several new amenities and is now fully handicapped accessible. Thanks to a recent grant, two fully accessible shower/ bathrooms are now housed in the building near the entrance. Other ADA compliant additions include: kayak launch, fishing pier and parking on the island. Walking trails, benches and an expanded courtyard near the pavilions have also been added. The pavilions are 30' X 40' and 24' X 32' both with electrical outlets and several grills and tables. Several horseshoe courts, playground equipment and plenty of natural beauty continue to provide enjoyment to visitors. For a fee, the pavilions and a few camping sites are available for reservations by contacting the Lyons Village Office, 989.855.2125, during the office hours of M, W, F 9 am - 4:30 pm, closed 12- 12:30 pm.
